Thousands Sample Delights At Kingston Maurward College

Online, June 15, 2010 (Newswire.com) - More than 6,000 visitors sampled the many delights on offer at Kingston Maurward College, for its annual open day.

The theme of the day 'A Taste of Summer' saw visitors treated to culinary displays by top local chefs, try their hands on the college's imitation milking cow, scale a high ropes course and ride a mechanical horse.

A country fair of more than 70 stalls, kayaking, and dog show, and for the first time this year live music into the evening - gave the crowds of families and visitors a fantastic day out.

And thanks to a raffle held on the day, boosted by donations, enough money has been raised by the college to buy a bull in its bid to create a pedigree beef herd on campus.

"The open day is chance for us to welcome the community into our stunning grounds and showcase what the college has to offer. We had lots of people sign up for full and part-time courses," said a college spokeswoman.

"Both staff and students really enjoyed making it a family event for our guests. For example our students with learning difficulties served cream teas and bowls of strawberries to the public."

Archery, a climbing wall, interactive college displays, a mini wedding fayre, crafts, equine exhibits, flower show and tractor trailer rides also proved popular.

Visitors were also able to explore the college's stunning 750-acre grounds, animal park and lake.
