'Ticked-Off Trannies' Will Get Bloody Vengeance in Select Theaters This Halloween Season

TICKED-OFF TRANNIES WITH KNIVES was THE controversial 2010 Tribeca World Premiere protested by GLAAD and hailed by fans. It continues its theatrical release, opening in New York on Oct. 15th and Los Angeles on Oct. 22nd, with a DVD release Nov. 9th

Philadelphia, PA - Director Israel Luna's "Ticked-Off Trannies with Knives" will bring its tale of gender bending revenge-seekers to select theaters this Halloween season, prior to its November 9 DVD release. The film already had a sold out theatrical premiere at Dallas' Inwood Theatre, and Breaking Glass Pictures will release the film in New York and Los Angeles later this month at Cinema Village (Oct. 15) and Laemmle's Sunset 5 Theatre (Oct. 22), respectively.

Presented in the style of classic 70s revenge films, "Trannies" tells the tale of the sweet and lovable Bubbles Cliquot and her band of fellow transgender vixens. After the ladies fall victim to an ambush by a baseball-bat-wielding, tranny-hating rapist named Boner, they set out to get cold-blooded, high-heeled vengeance with the help of some bladed weapons. The film provides plenty of laughs and bloody mayhem, which should appeal to horror and mainstream movie fans alike.

"Trannies" first made headlines this past spring after GLAAD protested its premiere at the 2010 Tribeca Flim Festival. The organization described the feature as "transphobic" and asked that it be removed from the festival lineup. Nevertheless, "Trannies" went on to play and has received warm praise from critics and audiences for its celebration of sisterhood and transgender empowerment.

Michael Musto of The Village Voice, for instance, lauded it as "a real trannie [sic] trip and a half" that "stirred up rich feelings the way so few movies do." Variety has also called it "a classic midnight movie that's sure to attract a cult audience."

Luna is still in awe that "Trannies" has elicited such enthused reactions from the public.

"The reactions have been amazing! We've gotten people yelling at the screen booing the villain, people cheering for the girls saying things like 'kick their ass!' I never expected this to be such a reaction-type of film, but I'm so happy that that's what the fans have made it!"
