TJay Is On A Roll! After Opening For The Doobie Brothers, TJay Is Recording A New Album With Special Guests John Popper And Ryan MacMillan
TJay's reputation as a solid live act has become so well established, he was asked to open for the Doobie Brothers at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, CT recently.
Online, June 22, 2011 (Newswire.com) - NY-based singer/songwriter TJay has good reason to be excited these days. Since the release of his debut album "Take A Seat" in 2009, TJay has toured throughout the Northeast, landing opening slots for Blues Traveler and Little Feat. Just last week, he had an encore performance opening for Blues Traveler in Ridgefield, CT. TJay's reputation as a solid live act has become so well established, he was asked to open for the Doobie Brothers at the Warner Theatre in Torrington, CT recently. With only three days' notice, TJay delivered a performance that garnered him a standing ovation from the packed house. If that's not reason enough to celebrate, TJay joined the Doobie Brothers to sing and play guitar on the encore performance of the band's hit song, "Listen To The Music." Following the show, the Doobies told TJay he had a "great voice," and TJay stayed to greet audience members who were eager for his autograph.
TJay's focus is not only on live performance: he's back in the studio working on his next album expected to be released later this year. In the process, TJay has attracted the interest of some of his favorite artists. John Popper of Blues Traveler is playing harmonica, and Ryan MacMillan (Matchbox 20) plays drums, on the forthcoming release. TJay himself has his talented hand all over the album, singing, playing guitar, bass, trumpet, piano, percussion, and mandolin! The new album is being produced by Dan McLoughlin (Weezer, Dinosaur Jr.) at The Vault Recording Studio in Hoboken, NJ.
Commenting on all of the encouraging feedback he's been receiving from his idols, TJay said, "It's amazing to feel you've earned even a small amount of respect of someone you admire. That they would offer to have you play on stage with them, or record with them is just unbelievable!"
