TMI students tapped for Spanish honor society
Online, June 5, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Twenty-one TMI students were inducted last month into the school's Mario Rivela Chapter of the Sociedad Honoraria Hispanica, the national honor society for students of the Spanish language.
To qualify for this membership society, students must be enrolled in courses at levels three or four and have excellent grades and character.
TMI students inducted this year are: Megan Abbott, Marian Amini, Diana Arce, Ana Paulina Carcur, Forrest Cruse, Brent Dinger, Jose de Alba, Gonzalo Fábrega, Juan K. Garza, Carolina González, Caetyn Jones, Cierra Kwan, Jennifer MartÃnez, Luke Matus, Morgan McMillian, Stephanie Miles, Joshua Pett, Amy Read, Elizabeth Spencer, Ana Zavala and AgustÃn Zurita.
The society is sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese to recognize high achievement of high school students of the Spanish and Portuguese languages and to promote interest in their studies. At present, there are more than 2,000 national and international chapters.
