Tods Crossing Second Annual Remembrance Service

Online, March 23, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Tods Crossing Remembrance Service invites the family members of residents that have passed so that as a community they can share stories, honor the lives of the seniors, and lean on one another for support. This year the service includes opening remarks by Mayor William D. Franklin. The guest speaker is Ben Hurt, local minister and gospel recording artist, and featured singer is a long time resident of Tods, Ms. Lula Fowler.

Tods Crossing is home to over 150 senior citizens and many of these seniors have resided at Tods since 1998 when the property was first built. Unfortunately, losing a senior to death is common and a very sad occurrence.

"Our seniors are close with one another and our small staff, so mourning the loss of each of our seniors is shared by all of us. By coming together like this we're able to share tears, joy, and lots and lots of hugs," states Barbara Mascio, Property Manager.

The seniors residing at Tods Crossing are from age 55 to age 93. Many are widowed and often times are the surviving member of the entire family. The staff at Tods and these seniors' neighbors become their family and so this type of community sharing has become very important for all.

Beverly Hall, Assistant Property Manager and Marta Himes, Senior Volunteer, have planned the ceremony securing donations from local businesses who are donating everything from flowers to food to table settings.

The Remembrance Service is scheduled for Friday, April the 6th from 1pm to 3pm and will be held within the community room at Tods located at 1330 Blakely Circle SW, Warren OH 44485. Warren residents who have had a family member residing at Tods that have passed away are welcome to attend. In order to have the family members' name recorded in the directory residents are to call 330-399-2224 before April the 2nd.
