Tolkien & Lewis - The Extraordinary Friendship

Tolkien & Lewis, the film based on the incredible true story of the bittersweet friendship between fantasy authors J.R.R Tolkien and C.S Lewis, moves quickly ahead in its development with the addition of acclaimed producer Mark Cooper (Chocolat, The Other Boleyn Girl, My Week With Marilyn) and Executive Producer Michael O' Sullivan (ex VP Paramount Pictures).
The film tells of the faith, friendship and fantasy worlds between two of the worlds greatest fantasy writers. Each man was to become the author of a billion dollar franchise, yet few of us know about the profound effect each had on the other's writing.
If not for Lewis, it is doubtful that The Hobbit would ever have seen the light of day or been published, as the shy and obsessive Tolkien thought it not worth anything. And the man who became the greatest Christian writer of the 20th century, former card-carrying atheist "Jack" Lewis, would never have found his faith but for Tolkien.
Produced by Wernher Pramschufer for Attractive Films the film will directly appeal to the millions of fans of both authors.
Jacqueline Cook and Paul Bryan, who have been writing literally around the clock - as one works in London and the other in Brisbane, Australia, have written the screenplay.
Whilst the team is keeping the names of the proposed director and cast firmly under wraps, it would be fair to say that they will be very high profile individuals. As Tolkien has never been portrayed on the big screen it does offer the opportunity for a marquee name actor to break new ground.
