Top Broadcasters League of Philippines Official Sanctions Social Network PinoyKubo
Online, October 9, 2011 (Newswire.com) - The President of the Broadcasters League of the Philippines, on October 6, 2011, introduced and recommended the use of AstraQom's Pinoy Kubo, a social networking site for Filipinos, to the Broadcaster Forum and Press Conference participants and the Philippines media. During Thursday's press conference at the Hotel Rembrant in Quezon City, the highly respected organization's top official Rolly Gonzalo, said "Eto ang subukannaman natin, kasi maaari taong magkaroon ng hanapbuhay dito at makipag usappa sa mga kamag-anaknatinsa abroad". (English translation: This is what you must try...you know why? Because you never know if you can come up with your own livelihood plus you can talk to your relatives and friends abroad for free.)
Mr. Gonzalo lauded Jonathan Sowah, CEO of Astraqom and founder of PinoyKubo.com, for creating the world's most empowering niche social marketing site for Filipinos who are in the homeland and also those who are abroad as migrants. Though Mr.Sowah was unable to attend because of unforeseen difficulties, he sent a well-informed PinoyKubo representative Dennis Sycip to share the great news, accomplishments, and plans for the online platform. He also said a summary would be prepared for the Philippines media, "I am here to tell you of a totally new Filipino networking site called PinoyKubo dot com where you can use voice, text, and video cam chat with anyone in the world free. Meet with your current and potential relatives and friends wherever they may be and still enjoy the usual features here plus uploading and sharing your latest pictures and other files while you talk about them. Users can start their own free online store at no expense, and they are Paypal secure. PinoyKubo is a networking site that I have dreamed of and designed for the Filipino migrant community, keeping in mind their innate human desire to feel still at home. We decided to call it PINOY KUBO because we want it to bring back memories of how one feels in a cozy and loving Filipino home."
He added, "As you see it now, your initial impression may be that it looks like another Facebook. This is just our Pinoy Kubo version 101. Try it now, the many different features, games, business tools, educational activities, free voice/video/text/file sharing chat, and other social or professional enhancing Stay tuned and visit the site regularly for great surprises that will provide new and more opportunities."
Cynthia Sycip, PR and Media Director at AstraQom, noted, "It was the first time that members of the Philippine media had heard of PinoyKubo, and I think that after it was explained, they understood its positive effect and excellent potential."
Like Mayor Tianco of Navotas' concern for the livelihood of his fellow citizens after the floods and the TawiTawi Governor Sadakul Sahali's encouragement of peace talks, both for the good of the country of Philippines, Jonathan Sowah, his team and the growing community are working together to promote family, jobs, and good values. One young lady in her early 20s named Urane has created her own entrepreneurial startup called
Dainty Creations with first orders already placed. Another one, Ms. Toong, also in her early 20s is collaborating with her new PK friends on sharing ideas of how to effectively use online opportunities to add new family income and start businesses. Another young member and business owner Albert Padin has used PinoyKubo to grow his company SpellDial for business brand recognition. He noted, during one of the recent PinoyKubo podcasts that showcases Filipino and Filipina entrepreneurs, "I think the Philippines has a lot of talent in the tech scene, oozing with talent. You can see many BPOs and call centers here. We do a lot of the technology work for the entire world. Even so, our country has kept its mindset of working for others. We have an entrepreneurial spirit in the company. We need to make our own products, market them to the world ... [which will bring in new revenue and keep our talented people in the Philippines. PinoyKubo is a platform that can help keep families close but also to help boost entrepreneurship and livelihood.]"
Present in the Broadcasters League of the Philippines were the its President Rolly Gonzalo, the city of Navotas' Mayor John Rey Tiangco, and Governor Sadakul Sahali of Tawi-Tawi. Mr. Sowah expressed his apologies for being unable to personally attend the conference because of a domestic emergency but is making well-thought-out plans to visit the Philippines to connect with, make plans and start collaborating, in person, with Philippines' trailblazers and leaders at as many levels and in as many industries as possible, offering PinoyKubo and other Filipino-empowering platforms.
