Totuba releases article on Chinese higher education Made in Germany

Online, December 16, 2009 (Newswire.com) - Germany has a long and outstanding history in higher education export to China, with its first project ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tongji_University ) launched as soon as 1907 and around 500 projects operated to date. The motivation of the then colonial power Germany to export higher education in the early twentieth century was mainly to help improve the inhumane medical conditions in Shanghai. When the German and Chinese governments signed a treaty to found the Chinese-German College for Postgraduate Studies in 1998, the ideas of a former colonial power establishing a standard in higher education in China still resonated. In 1999 however, Germany found itself confronted with the reality of its own higher education system wearing the dust of the past.
