Tour 12 Gardens of the World at the Home & Garden Show in Milwaukee
New this year, the 2011 REALTORS' Home & Garden Show in Milwaukee is showcasing 12 glorious international gardens from England, Italy, France, Germany, Ireland and Japan.
Online, March 21, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Milwaukee - It's time to leave winter behind and think spring. The 2011 REALTORS' Home & Garden Show features the beauty of the season with lush greenery, fragrant flowers and rushing water. New this year, are 12 glorious international gardens from notable landscape artists, plus "green" gardening ideas, flower and garden presentations and expert tips for improving and updating the yard.
The show runs Friday, March 25, through Sunday, April 3, at the Wisconsin Exposition Center at State Fair Park, 8200 W. Greenfield Ave., West Allis. The show is closed Monday, March 28, and Tuesday, March 29, but reopens Wednesday, March 30 for the remainder of the event's run.
This year, the show will take visitors on a tour of gardens from around the world. Showgoers can enjoy 12 different "Gardens of the World" from Japan, Italy, Ireland, Germany, England and France.
The Japanese garden features flowing waterfalls, native grasses, smooth stones and rich woods to promote meditation and tranquility. The English garden has a signature element - an herbaceous border, which is the tightly packed row of plants and flowers that form a mounded border in traditional English gardens. For those longing for Italy, the show includes a Tuscan retreat with a large wooden pergola, a rustic floor of paving stones and a fire pit to gather around and enjoy a fine glass of Italian wine.
With all the worldly inspiration, showgoers might be tempted to hop on a plane. Fortunately, attendees who visit the "Gardens of the World" area will be eligible to win a three-night stay in Orlando for the Epcot® International Food & Wine Festival (airfare allowance included).
Another exciting element of the 2011 show is the eco area that showcaes environmentally friendly landscape elements and energy-saving concepts, including green roofs, green walls, rainwater harvesting, rain gardens, composting, bee keeping, veggie gardening, solar LED lighting, native landscaping and low impact design. Shoppers can also find gardening supplies and tools, such as bulbs, flower and vegetable seeds, ratcheting pruners and adjustable rakes.
