In support of India’s government initiative for Digital India and Smart Cities, the inaugural India Security Expo will present local and international solutions to prevent cyber attacks and technology to enable a safer cities for all.  Happening from 12 to 14 September at the Bombay Exhibition Centre, the tradeshow will facilitate discussions on security requirements and solutions amongst the public and private sectors.

India’s announcement of the 98 urban centres and cities nominated as part of its “Smart City” master plan last August, created much hype and buzz in the industry. The concept of smart city is expected to drive connectivity and smart technology; where information security is the backbone of data gathering, interpretation and dissemination of information to act and react to critical situations.

The Digital India programme announced by Prime Minister Narendra Modi aims to transform the country into a digitally empowered knowledge economy through strengthening infrastructure and connectivity, integrated services across government departments, allowing sharing of e-documents across government agencies, mobile app for government services, and many other initiatives. In fact, in various reports released, there have been an increase in information security incidents by 117% compared to the previous year1.  Targeted attacks on businesses dealing in critical infrastructure in India, particularly in financial sector, communication and transportation are also on the rise2.

“We are very excited with the new developments that India is focusing on. It creates great business opportunities for solution providers. The time is now. Our exhibitors have indicated interested in the India market. The launch of India Security Expo is a natural extension of our series of security tradeshows in Singapore and Myanmar.”

“In addition, our decision to co-locate India Security Expo beside InfoComm India, which is the leading audio-visual and ICT platform in India will give visitors a complete solution to all their ICT needs under one roof.” said Mr Jack Chia, Executive Director of MP International, organiser India Security Expo.

India Security Expo has garnered support from the local security industry. The Electronic Security Association of India (ESAI), Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) and Security Sector Skill Development Council has agreed to lend their support for the inaugural event. This showed that the industry is supportive of a platform that allow exchange of knowledge and ideas in the area of homeland security as well as security solutions for private sectors.
