Towing Museum Announces 100 Years of Towing Logo

Online, December 2, 2013 (Newswire.com) - The International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum has announced the release of the logo for the 100th anniversary of the invention of the tow truck as well as perpetual license allowing the use of a joint version of the logo by the Tennessee Tow Show. The new logo, owned by the ITRHFM, was developed jointly between several parties including the Tennessee Tow Show and will be made available in several versions to support the marketing efforts of industry associations and organizations in celebrating this milestone for the towing and recovery industry.

The tow truck was invented in 1916 by Ernest Holmes, Sr. of Chattanooga, TN after he was forced to pull a car out of a creek bed using ropes, blocks and six men. The creation of the tow truck led to many improvements in a short time and was the first step in the development of what has become a worldwide towing industry today. The new logo celebrates this anniversary and the history of the industry which is preserved for the future by the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum, appropriately also based in Chattanooga.

The Tennessee Tow Show and the International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum recently announced an expanded partnership between the organizations as they work to improve the museum's annual Wall of the Fallen and Hall of Fame events and the Tennessee Tow Show's success. Each September, the ITRHFM unveils the names of men and women who have died in the line of service at a memorial ceremony held at the Wall of the Fallen on the museum's property in Chattanooga. This event, held Saturday morning on the same weekend as the Tennessee Tow Show, is part of events that includes the Museum's annual Hall of Fame inductions.

The International Towing and Recovery Hall of Fame and Museum and the Tennessee Tow Show will host their next event packed weekend September 18-20, 2014 with dates for the following year being September 10-12, 2015. The spectacular 100th anniversary celebration will be held September 8-10, 2016 when all parties hope the entire industry will come to celebrate our heritage.
