Toyota All Set To Establish An Engine Plant Near Bangalore Worth Rs 500 Crore

Online, February 28, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Toyota is the leading automobile player in the world and in India it is collaborated with Kirlsokar group. Famously known as Toyota Kirloskar Motors (TKM), the brand is ready to establish an engine plant at Bidadi near Bangalore with an investment of worth Rs 500 crore. Company has already commenced the construction and will be elaborating its current transmission plant at this facility.
According to recent facts, Toyota Motors has projected this plan for the Etios car model, with an objective to set up a new engine plant while at the same time expanding the existing transmission plant as well. Further the report says that the new engine plant will start processing in the second half of next year that is 2012 and the newly laid down plant will bear the capacity of producing about 1 lakh engines. Hence including the same, the total transmission production will be increased to 2.4 lakh units.
The Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motors - Mr. Vikram Kirloskar stated in his recent comment, "Indian operations play a very important role in Toyota's global strategy. Making Etios exclusively for the Indian market and the localization of engine and transmission marks an important milestone in the growth of Toyota in India. Production of engines and transmissions for the Etios will further localize parts production. With the production of these critical parts, the localization ratio for Etios, currently around 70 per cent, is expected to cross 90 per cent."
