TradePMR Mentors CFP Students and Student Tech Talent With 'Big Reveal' Slated for Jan. 31, 2019

TradePMR, a brokerage and custodian services provider, is supporting a team of four University of South Florida students at this year’s T3 Technology Conference for financial advisors happening Jan. 29–Feb. 1, 2019, in Denton, Texas. The competition dubbed “T3 Mash Up” is comprised of four competing teams that have been charged with creating and executing a concept or product that is new to the financial services industry or furthers an existing project or adds a useful feature.

Each team is comprised of two IT students who are studying to become developers, two students in the university’s CFP program and an experienced mentor (for the University of South Florida student team, that mentor is TradePMR).

What these students are accomplishing in this short amount of time has real potential to effect lasting change within our industry. We have always tried to offer advisors that work with TradePMR cutting-edge technology and these students are teaching us what's next for the industry as we provide them with real-world scenarios.

“What these students are accomplishing in this short amount of time has real potential to effect lasting change within our industry,” said TradePMR CEO Robb Baldwin, who in 2018 served as a judge in this annual competition. “We have always tried to offer advisors that work with TradePMR cutting-edge technology and these students are teaching us what’s next for the industry as we provide them with real-world scenarios.”

For the competition, each student team is given the duration of the conference to select and build a project in coordination with their mentor tech firm. Each mentor firm provides guidance and a tech platform, which the project must be built to. On the final day of the competition, Jan. 31, 2019, students present their new solutions to a panel of industry judges and prizes are awarded.

“As a company, TradePMR’s goal in this effort is to provide mentorship with the goal of getting young, new talent and fresh ideas into the financial planning industry. We want to highlight next-generation thinking,” said Scott Victoria, TradePMR COO. “We’re looking at the needs of RIAs right now and with forward-thinking hope to solve some of their pain points.”
