Tragedy in New Orleans Inspires Author to Write Novel That Has Big Screen Possibilities

Author looks to score big with new book inspired by New Orleans tragedy and hopes to gain Hollywood attention.

We all have a story to tell, at least that's what we're told by our parents. Often times our story can be either told by book, motion picture, or verbally. Regardless of how we choose to tell our story, it all depends on how well the story is expressed and delivered, that it touches the emotions of who's listening, reading, or watching. Therefore, the plot must be interesting enough to captivate your audience that it makes a meaningful impact. That impact could mean the difference between keeping the attention of your audience, and losing it.

However, renowned author Marcus Owens is looking to keep the attention of his audience by telling his story in his much anticipated novel, "Leaving New Orleans", due out this winter of 2014. Inspired by a horrific tragedy which occurred in New Orleans, Marcus decides to write a riveting romance novel he hope would touch the emotions of his readers. After writing several drafts of Leaving New Orleans on paper, the story of a young lady whose life is flipped upside down during a horrific weekend is materialized.

"The overall thought was to be a compelling movie script that involved a young lady who is displaced from home, and finds herself alone in a very unfamiliar place. As the idea brewed, the title "Leaving New Orleans" became the centerpiece for the story. While vacationing in New Orleans for several days, the story came together and was even clearer to me. After taking several notes of streets and landmarks, I wanted to convey the story in its purest form. My objective was to paint a vivid picture with words that could touch the emotions of the reader and make the story surreal. I wanted my readers to feel like they are part of Angela's experience," says Marcus Owens.

Leaving New Orleans tells the story of Angela Johnson, a native New Orleans who resides in the Lower 9th Ward, who along with her family and friends experience one of the most horrifying tragedies ever in one weekend. After such horrific incident, her family is scattered to the four winds, her best friend Christy becomes missing, and Angela now has to make a new life for herself in a strange city, alone and with little more than the clothes on her back.

Like many romance stories either told by book, motion picture, or verbally, Leaving New Orleans offers an ongoing roller coaster ride that is sure to jolt emotions. Masterfully written, it encompass dialogue that is sure to draw you close to the cast of characters personally.
