Travco Calls for the Return of Tourism at the ITB
Driven by its mission to bolster the tourism sector following the recent political events' aftermath, management has taken the decision to maintain its market visibility while taking part in international tourism exhibitions to promote Egypt.
Online, March 13, 2011 (Newswire.com) - In light of the country's added glamour following the successful pro-democracy revolution, the company is optimistic about the industry's speedy recovery and plans to stage Egypt's potential more than ever before. It is evident that international travelers have gained more interest in Egypt by these events and wish to visit it to witness the country whose people brought about such an epochal political change.
The ITB Berlin, known to be one of the most important travel shows in which Travco partakes annually, was a well needed platform to showcase Egypt's destinations as they are today. A delegation lead by the company Chairman and CEO, Hamed El Chiaty, traveled to Berlin to promote Egyptian tourism and in parallel sales meetings were organized to speak with travel companies and gain their trust back in the destination.
The Travco Group stand gained significant recognition as visitors were curious about the situation in Egypt. Not only did El Chiaty attend to their inquiries in person, but he also held prolonged meetings with decision makers and major industry players to secure the influx of tourists' from Germany that has for long been amongst Travco's leading source markets, shaping over 20% of its tourist arrivals annually. "The past couple of months have been very tough on Egypt, and the unrest has affected the tourism industry causing over 1 million tourists to leave the country during the first week. We are trying our best to ensure all those concerned that the situation has become a lot more stable, and it is now safe to come back to Egypt" said El Chiaty.
Known for his vigorous efforts in promoting tourism to Egypt, Hamed El Chiaty has been actively leading this initiative, touring the major European source markets to speak with the CEOs of the major operators about the return of the arranged flights prior to the unrest and "the general consensus was quite positive, as most European countries have lifted up their negative travel advisories against Egypt following the subsiding of the political unrest" El Chiaty said. "There's an insatiable appetite for Egypt," he said. "For almost every other country in the world, there is another destination elsewhere that replicates what it offers but where else can you find the diversity that Egypt offers?"
The message conveyed by Mr. El Chiaty stated that the Egyptian tourist destinations have not suffered any damage and are completely safe and to prove that, all the archaeological sites are open. "We have already dealt with difficult situations in the past; we have always known how to react. Now we want to give a signal of confidence to the tour operators organizing travel to Egypt, because the country will be even stronger and more competitive, up to its role as a major tourist destination," he said.
