Travelers Invited To Witness The 100 Tribes Expected For The 50th Anniversary Of Mt. Hagen Singsing In Papua New Guinea
A once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the song, dance and splendor of the Mt. Hagen Cultural Festival is a highlight on this tour of one of the planet's most diverse nations.
Online, March 3, 2011 (Newswire.com) - WanderTours announces its premiere trip to the extraordinary island nation of Papua New Guinea. With over 850 tribal groups, Papua New Guinea is one of the earth's most diverse and fascinating places. Ten fortunate travelers will encounter this multi-faceted culture by witnessing the Mt. Hagen Singsing, a cultural show that attracts tribes from around the country, marking the 50th anniversary this year. Walking among these groups as they apply makeup and don tribal finery in preparation for traditional performances will be an unforgettable highlight on this 15-day adventure.
In addition to the festival experiences, participants will also travel through some of the most beautiful regions of Papua New Guinea. A multi-day boat excursion down the magnificent Sepik River will reveal the colorful wildlife and traditional riverside villages of the north. They'll take in the stunningly lush landscape en-route to the coastal town of Madang, where there will be time to enjoy watersports such as snorkeling and diving in a breathtaking setting. Along the way, cultural activities such as basket weaving and cooking will connect these travelers with the local way of life.

This small co-ed tour group will be lead by Beth Whitman, founder of WanderTours and author of the Wanderlust and Lipstick guides including The Essential Guide for Women Traveling Solo and For Women Traveling to India. Beth dreamed of traveling to the region for 30 years. She says, "After visiting Papua New Guinea, I knew I had to create a tour for others who desperately wanted to experience this unique destination but didn't know how to get there. The fact that this first tour coincides with the 50th anniversary of the Mt. Hagen Singsing is a bonus!"
This WanderTour is open to an intimate group of only 10 people. The cost is $5,750 and includes accommodation, meals as specified, air and land transport in-country, entry into Mt. Hagen and Paiya Mini Shows and local guides.
