TRIBUTE VIDEO PRODUCED BY DMB PICTURES GARNERS PRESTIGIOUS AWARD

BETHESDA, MD - A documentary video honoring renowned geneticist Dr. Charles J. Epstein has earned a bronze award in Association TRENDS' All-Media Contest. The video, entered by The American College of Medical Genetics Foundation, was produced by Bethesda-based DMB Pictures.

Association TRENDS is a weekly online publication for association executives. Each year the company invites associations to showcase their communications efforts in an All-Media Contest. Entrants are judged on the quality, appearance and content of their publications and include both print and digital submissions. The contest has been running for over 35 years and is the oldest of its kind.

The American College of Medical Genetics Foundation hired DMB Pictures to create a video tribute of Dr. Charles J. Epstein, recipient of the 2011 Lifetime Achievement Award. Dr. Epstein received the award shortly after his passing, and the Foundation was extremely pleased with DMB's handling of the commemoration.

"Debbie Brodsky of DMB Pictures came in at the eleventh hour on this project and was a joy to work with," said Melissa Forburger, ACMG's Director of Administration. "She was so flexible and dropped everything to help us honor our colleague and his family in a very short amount of time. Our organization is 20 years old but we had never made a video before. Debbie really took the time to explain the process and guide us to help create this beautiful piece. We feel the video truly captures the story of Dr. Epstein, a wonderful person and a true pioneer in the industry. His passing was a big loss, but Debbie's tribute was uplifting and done with great style."

Dr. Epstein played a large role in the accreditation of medical genetics, the most recently accredited medical specialty. Having trained more than 100 genetic counselors, his research on genetic disorders, most specifically Down Syndrome, has been instrumental in efforts to find new therapies for patients. During his career he led major professional organizations and edited leading scientific journals.

DMB Pictures is a boutique video production company specializing in producing broadcast-quality personal stories for families, non-profits and small businesses. The company opened its doors in January 2006 led by Debbie Mintz Brodsky, a three-time Emmy Award-winning television producer with more than 20 years of experience.

"It was such an honor to work on this project," said Brodsky. "To be able to create a short film that illuminated the life of this brilliant man who made such incredible advances within the field of genetics, at the end of his life, became such a gift not only to the Foundation, but to his family."

Brodsky is pleased that the tribute was recognized by Association TRENDS and looks forward to helping other associations with similar projects in the future.
