Tritex Multigauge Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges Measure Through Coatings
Dorchester, United Kingdom, January 29, 2016 (Newswire.com) - Corrosion levels can be easily monitored using the Multigauge range of multiple echo ultrasonic thickness gauges from Tritex NDT Ltd. They measure metal thickness through coatings up to 20 mm thick over the entire measuring range of the probe. Coatings are completely ignored and only the metal substrate is measured. In addition, the Automatic Measurement Verification System (AMVS) ensures measurements are displayed only if echoes are received from the back wall of the metal, ensuring there are no erroneous readings. Flaws or pits in the material do not affect the measurements.
The excellent performance of the gauges, even on heavily corroded metal, is partly due to Intelligent Probe Recognition (IPR). Specific data relevant to the probe, which is stored on an integral microchip, is transferred to the gauge when the probe is connected resulting in a perfectly matched probe and gauge combination for enhanced performance.
Monitor corrosion levels and check metal thickness without removing coatings!

The range includes the Multigauge 5500, designed for hands free use when climbing on staging, scaffolding or when accessing large storage tanks by rope. The Multigauge 5600 hand held gauge, which has a bright colour display and user friendly menus, and the Multigauge 5700 datalogger which allows measurements to be stored on the gauge in a grid or string format or a combination of both. The stored data is then transmitted to the PC using wireless technology.
All gauges use single crystal probes protected by a membrane to ensure they do not easily get damaged. They have a number of advantages when measuring on curved and corroded surfaces as well as linear accuracy throughout the measurement range.
Tritex Multigauges have been designed for robustness, simplicity of use and most importantly, accuracy. They are manufactured in the UK and supplied as a complete kits, ready to use, with a 3 year warranty and free calibration for the life of the gauge.
