TruStump Deer Feeders Now on Kickstarter
AVID HUNTER AND ENGINEER USES CROWDFUNDING TO LAUNCH NEW DEER FEEDER STARTUP COMPANY
Stillwater, OK, November 6, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The TruStump feeder is a simple gravity-operated unit with a realistic tree stump texture and appearance, allowing it to blend in with almost any environment, including your backyard. It is molded out of heavy-duty composite material, has high-capacity storage capabilities with its 36-gallon body, and will be manufactured in America. This patent-pending design is the creation of avid Oklahoma hunter and experienced design engineer Duane Harding, whose goal was to address all of the deficiencies of similar stump feeder products, and tackle many of the issues that he and fellow hunters have had with some of the other designs currently available.
“Other stump feeders are extremely realistic in appearance, but lack durability. Ours is roto-molded, giving it the same robustness as kayaks, while maintaining that realistic look and feel,” says its creator. TruStump setup is simple and quick. It is free-standing, but can easily be staked down, has no cumbersome legs to fumble around with, and no batteries or electronics to deal with. Its low-to-the-ground design makes it a true stand-and-fill feeder, meaning you don’t have to climb a ladder or stand on your truck’s tailgate to refill it. Weighing in at only 15 lbs., its simple design also makes it very easy to relocate, unlike other tripod feeders.
After spending the past 2 years in the design, testing, and development phases, and working closely with tool makers and custom rotomolders, Harding has created a unique, durable product with a natural look that will be a perfect fit for both the backyard wildlife watcher and whitetail hunter. “One of the major challenges of this project was keeping tooling and manufacturing costs under control without having to go overseas,” says Harding. “We were tempted by a number of low-cost overseas suppliers, but in the end, we chose to keep it on American soil.” Now that engineering and supplier development have been self-funded, Harding has chosen to utilize crowdfunding to cover the tooling and initial manufacturing run by offering his product on a risk-free “pre-order” basis. Since Kickstarter operates on an all-or-nothing funding model, no pledge dollars will actually be collected unless the total goal amount is pledged by the end of the 30-day campaign.
Retail price is expected to be in the $150-160 range, but it is currently being offered to the public at the wholesale price of $125 for a limited time via Kickstarter. The fact that it’s made in America, its unique look and feel, and its numerous other value-added features, such as the TruLatch lid, critter guards, and adjustable flow baffles, make it worth every penny.
