Twelve Year Old Kid Suffered From Fracture In The Foot, Is Now A Basketball Champion!
Online, January 2, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Small children often fall down or get injured when indulging into extremely rigorous sports or other activities. Samantha is unlike any other child who loves to play and participates in sports at school. It was on one such play time that little Samantha injured her left ankle. She got several bruises and was in immense pain. Her school authorities informed her parents. She was then rushed to a clinic nearby who examined her injury closely. The specialist then informed the parents that the child had suffered from a fracture in the foot.
But then the clinic near the school did not have any technologies for further treatment. Samantha was then referred to Family Foot and Leg Center, P.A. in Naples. She was admitted to the healthcare center under the supervision of Dr. Kevin Lam. The doctor was very cooperative and insisted that the child would be admitted to the hospital for the treatment process to commence. Her parents were first apprehensive about going to the hospital. She was quite small and had never been alone before that. Although the girl was brave and told her parents that she would be fine.
Dr. Lam was extremely supportive. He ensured that little Samantha was given the optimum treatment throughout her stay. Since she had tripped and fallen from a height over her foot, the complex break was painful. An X-ray was performed on her and a fracture in the metatarsals and heel bone was detected. She suffered from an ailment known as a metatarsal and calcaneus (heel) fracture. He gently felt her foot and assured her that the pain would subside soon. He then applied some ice cubes and some medication to avoid the patient from feeling too much pain.
Though the child stayed that night at the hospital, authorities did not allow her to stay inside the room alone. She was attended by a lady who stayed awake all night and looked after her. Though she did miss her home, the attending nurse made sure that she did not feel alone. Just after dawn, some time later her parents came rushing to the hospital and found the medical team already present at the spot. They had already applied the plasters and had given her the breakfast to eat.
Dr. Lam then informed the child's parents about the intricate details of how the procedure would be conducted further. Little Samantha did get well soon as Dr. Lam told her. After two weeks of time, she was allowed to be taken home. The doctors told her parents thoroughly about the way the child should be taken care of. But what Samantha liked the most about her improvement was that she could feel the strength in her feet coming back. She could now walk without any support and visits the office at times. She had become quite close to the staff at the office. They also look forward to her visit and often offer her chocolates.
Samantha can now hop, skip and even participates in sports at school. While her stay at the hospital did make her miss her home but she now misses the center a lot. Some months back, she had taken part at the broad jump competition at her school's premises. Her teachers and friends asked her not to indulge in such activities as she had just arisen from a fracture. She however took part in the competition and won. Everyone was amazed and so were her parents. They just cannot stop thanking the team at the Foot and Leg Center, P.A.
