TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Makes Assists with the Sacramento Memory Walk

Award Winning Sacramento Movers, TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, have volunteered their services for 7th straight year in assisting the Alzheimer's Association with their Annual Memory Walk.

The resurgence of the Award Winning Sacramento Moving Team of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK has volunteered their sevices for the 7th straight year to the Alzheimer's Association for their annual Memory Walk.

"We enjoy being a part of the community and helping out where we can. It's part of core values at our office." says the owner of TWO MEN AND A TRUCK, Mark Snyir.

A crowd of more than 2,000 is expected to show up at the State Capitol early on the morning of Saturday, October 2nd for the 18th annual Sacramento Alzheimer's Memory Walk, and the stakes this year could hardly be higher.

Death rates for many major diseases like cancer and heart disease are on the way down, and that's putting more and more people at risk for one of the worst diseases of all...Alzheimer's disease. Already, 5.3 million Americans are afflicted with Alzheimer's, and the toll is going to rise by a half million a year unless a cure is found.

Of the families already coping with Alzheimer's, nearly 63,000 live in the Greater Sacramento area.

They depend on the Alzheimer's Association for help in their lonely struggle, and the Alzheimer's Association depends on the Sacramento Memory Walk for most of its existence.

"I don't know how I'd make it without support group," says a caregiver support group member at Sun City Roseville. She has watched helplessly as her husband of 50 years has forgotten who she is even though she is there 24/7 to feed him, bathe him, and take him to the bathroom.

The Association provides nearly two dozen such support groups and couldn't do so without the funds raised by Memory Walk. It also provides a free 24/7 Help Line, caregiver survival courses, personal consultation and an annual education conference featuring the latest in research and care giving tips.

Even when friends and family have abandoned them, the Alzheimer's Association says, "Lean on me."

And the Association itself "leans" on Memory Walk. This year it's hoping that more than 2,000 walkers will generate more than $260,000 to keep services going and help achieve the increasingly achievable goal of ending Alzheimer's once and for all.

This year's walk will be emceed by two of the biggest names in Sacramento media...Tom Mailey of New Country KNCI and Gulstan Dart of KCRA Channel 3. There will also be food, beverages, music, kid-friendly activities and a host of booths providing valuable information to Alzheimer's families.

There will also be several prizes for people who raise the most money and a chance to support more investment in finding a cure.
Registration starts at 8:30 a.m. at the south steps of the Capitol, and the walk gets under way at 10 a.m. The walk is three miles to Sutter's Fort and back with the option of a one-mile shortcut around Capitol Park.
