TWO MEN AND A TRUCK Sacramento Wants to Introduce You To Jane
Online, October 4, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Let us introduce you to Jane. Jane hired a Vanline Company to move her belongings from Atlanta to Seattle. She had selected this particular company because the salesperson was friendly and their price seemed reasonable.
On Move Day, the crew showed up 6 hours late to Jane's house. Luckily, Jane was driving and not flying out to Seattle. Upon arrival, the crew started taking all of her furniture directly to the truck and loading it very quickly on the truck. However, they weren't using any furniture pads or strecth wrap to protect the furniture. In fact, they did't use protection of any kind for her belongings.
Jane thought the men smelled of alcohol, and toward the end of loading up her belongings requested a "tip" from her in exchange for a safe trip of her belongings. With all of her wordly possessions now in their truck, she succembed to their request to help ensure better service.
The delivery date of her furniture in Seattle was to be 12 days later. However she didn't receive her belongings until Day 19 at 6am, well, at least most of her belongings. Jane recieved all of her furniture items but was missing most of her boxes. Jane called the company and demanded answers and her boxes. She was told that she needed to pay for the move in full before any "claims" can be discussed.
Unfortunately for Jane, not only were the requesting the payment before she received her boxes, but the Movers were now demanding $2300 over the quoted price because the move took longer than anticipated. After hours of negotiations, threats and promises of lawsuits, Jane had no choice but to pay the total amount.
6 months later, Jane as her day in court and the judge awards Jane $4100 for the damages sustained on her move. As of July 15, 2010 Jane has still not received any reimbursement from the company and has been trying to actively pursue the company through the courts.
