UCLA Uses "tawkon" Technology

tawkon mobile application to lower radiation used in UCLA research to monitor exposure

Tel Aviv - tawkon™, the only mobile phone application that lets users see and avoid exposure to mobile phone radiation, is now being evaluated by Professor Leeka I. Kheifets, Epidemiology at UCLA, as a tool to aid in exposure assessment of mobile phone use.

"I was impressed with the tawkon application and was glad to leverage their innovative approach to assist our research studies in estimating long-term exposure from mobile phone use" said UCLA Professor Leeka I. Kheifets.

"Having launched tawkon as a consumer application to empower individuals to see and control their exposure to radiation, we are delighted to contribute our technology to world-leading research conducted by UCLA Professor Kheifets," said Gil Friedlander, Co-founder & CEO of tawkon. Friedlander continued. "As consumers worldwide continue to increase dependency on mobile phones, we believe it is our duty as mobile phone innovators to collaborate with researchers of this highest caliber to investigate potential risks associated with mobile phone usage, and to empower the public with the information and tools to use their phones more responsibly."

The tawkon application is currently available (www.tawkon.com/download) for selected Android (free) and BlackBerry (free trial) devices. tawkon is also ready for the iPhone, but despite worldwide debate and a public petition (www.tawkon.com/tell-apple), tawkon has not yet been approved by Apple for distribution on the iPhone.
