UHY Advisors Tax Principal LeighAnn H. Costley Named One of Atlanta Business Chronicle's Up & Comers for 2009
ATLANTA, November 23, 2009 -- LeighAnn H. Costley, Tax Principal at UHY Advisors GA Inc. has been named one of Atlanta Business Chronicle's Up & Comers/40 Under 40 Rising Stars for 2009. Costley joined the Atlanta office in August to launch its new Southeast Tax Practice Group. The award recognizes young professionals and business owners making a big impact in Atlanta.
The Atlanta Business Chronicle profiled Costley in a special section, calling her a "rising star in the local business community," and noting that she was hired recently by UHY Advisors because the firm "needed a dynamic leader with a strong technical background and a willingness to tackle the challenge of building a brand-new tax practice."
Nationally, UHY Advisors is one of the top 15 professional services firms specializing in business consulting and tax services to public and private companies in the Fortune 1000 and middle market.
Costley has more than 15 years of experience providing corporate and personal tax planning, compliance and consulting services to clients and has an extensive knowledge base regarding the federal and state taxation of individuals, trusts, partnerships, and corporations. She specializes in serving private businesses and their owners in the manufacturing, real estate and professional services industries.
"As the managing director of UHY Advisors in the Southeast, I have the distinct pleasure of working with LeighAnn on a daily basis," says Rob Vinson, managing director, UHY Advisors' Southeast practice. "She possesses in abundance all of the skills that we desire to emulate in business and community leaders."
A Detroit native, Costley moved to Atlanta in 2003. Becoming ingrained in a community where you have no personal or professional ties is a challenge, but it's one that LeighAnn has embraced.
Most significant has been her involvement with Kate's Club (www.katesclub.org), a non-profit that empowers children and teens facing life after the death of a parent or sibling. She joined the Kate's Club Board of Directors in 2005 and since that time has been the Treasurer, co-chair of the Governance committee and chair of the Fundraising committee. Since January 2008, she has chaired the Board.
"Being chosen as one of the top 40 under 40 business leaders in Atlanta is an amazing honor," said Costley. "It is especially rewarding to have been nominated by Rob, who recognized my leadership potential and has empowered me to further develop these skills through business development and community involvement."
She has also participated in the Atlanta Women's Foundation "Women on Board" program, is a graduate of the Pathbuilders Achieva Program (formerly the Georgia 100 Mentoring Program), and is a United Way Tocqueville Society member.
