Unique Writing Workshop in October Focuses on Ministering Through Literature
Online, September 22, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Website: http://christianwritingworkshops.com/
Debbie Thompson, who will be hosting the writing workshop, is a book reviewer for Northwestern Publishing House and a Christian Book Club leader. This workshop's goal is to help writers improve their writing skills. Some of the topics covered at this event will include: Implicit and Explicit Christian themes, Characteristics of the Short Story, Editing and review, Building your ability to write, and Discussion of this year's winning writing contestants.
The Athanatos Christian Ministries (ACM) Christian Writing Workshop is an outgrowth of ACM's desire to develop a genre of fiction that might be called 'literary apologetics.' ACM's mission is to encourage and support Christian authors in their quest to promote Christianity through the written word. ACM wants to inspire young Christians to take up the pen and promote the Christian world view through fiction.
Anthony Horvath, the Executive Director of ACM, explains, "ACM is an apologetics ministry, but one that encourages as many 'methods' as possible to defend the faith. The arts and literature are one area where the secular community used to reign supreme. However, this is changing, and ACM aims to facilitate that change. This writing workshop is part of that strategy."
The Internet has opened up many opportunities for artists but also many new challenges to the Church, so it is fitting that the workshop is online. ACM has also hosted a conference where Christian writers were encouraged to come together in 'one place' to hash out how they could deliberately use the arts to promote, explain, and defend Christianity.
Registration for the workshop is now open and the cost: $49.95 for an intensive four week course.
