University Area CDC Hosts Student Production of Oliver Fish

Students select University Area Community Center for their spring production.

Oliver Fish, a modern twist on a classic tale, will be performed by the students of the DeArmon Creative Arts School & Theater (C.A.S.T.) program March 14 and 15 at the University Area Community Development Corporation (UACDC) Community Center Complex, located at 14013 North 22nd Street in Tampa.

"We are extremely grateful DeArmon C.A.S.T. selected our facility for its production of Oliver Fish," said Ronnie Oliver, UACDC's Director of Development. "The UACDC works to improve the economic, educational and social levels of University Area residents. With 95 percent of our area residents living below poverty, funds from our facility rentals help to provide youth programs, adult education and resource assistance to the community, free of charge."

Inspired by Charles Dickens' classic, Oliver Twist, Oliver Fish tells the tale of an optimistic, orphaned fish and his search for a family of his own. Memorable melodies, charming characters and witty dialogue combine to make this imaginative adaptation a show to remember. Tickets are available at www.dearmoncast.com.

The University Area Community Center Complex is a 50,000-square-foot multipurpose center that is the focal point of the community while providing critical services to thousands of residents. It contains classrooms, community rooms, a fitness center, gymnasium and playground as well as a performance stage along with music, art and dance studios.

The community center offers 21 fully-equipped rooms and areas available for rent that can accommodate 10 to 1,200 people. For questions about the UACDC or its facility rentals, email [email protected], or call 813-558-5212.
