University-Model Private School Bringing Jobs to Austin, Texas

While Texas public schools were recently forced to cut teaching positions and stall new hiring, a unique private school coming to Austin, Texas will hire new teachers and staff to deliver a style of schooling that has produced outstanding results acr

Trinity Preparatory Academy (http://www.trinityprepacademy.com) will open its doors in Fall 2013 to almost 100 students in grades K-4. With this type of enrollment, nearly twenty teachers and staff members will be hired as well.

Dr. Elizabeth Swanson, Research Assistant Professor at the University of Texas at Austin and Head of School for Trinity Preparatory Academy says, "Not only are we excited to provide a unique school experience to the children of North Austin, Round Rock, and surrounding areas, but we are also pleased to contribute economically to the Central Texas area."

Dr. Swanson explained that Trinity Prep's funding is provided by private sources and that all operating costs will be covered by tuition. "Many private schools rely on fundraisers to cover a budget deficit of 20%. This is not the case at Trinity Prep. Because tuition will cover all operating costs at Trinity Prep, faculty, staff, and parents will never engage in fundraising that distracts us from our mission." The business model will provide stability for school and job growth over time, allowing Trinity Prep to contribute to Austin's economy in the coming years by hiring and retaining highly qualified teachers.

With a low student to teacher ratio of 16:1, Trinity Prep is poised to hire teachers at a faster pace than public and other traditional private schools with higher ratios. Dr. Swanson says, "We simply need more teachers to provide the quality classical, Christian curriculum to smaller groups of students. It is yet another characteristic that sets Trinity Prep apart from other private schools in the area."

Classes at Trinity Prep begin in August, 2013. The school will begin accepting teacher and staff applications in February.
