AUSTIN, Texas, November 18, 2024 (Newswire.com) - The University of Austin (UATX) is pleased to announce its partnership with Wolfram Research, a global leader in computation and AI technology and solutions. This collaboration will be the first with Wolfram and higher-education in partnership to deliver an advanced 21st-century STEM curriculum grounded in real-world applications, interdisciplinary learning and modern computing.
“This partnership between UATX and Wolfram Research will be a game-changer for university mathematics education,” said David Ruth, Dean of the Center for STEM at UATX. “Students will study complex problems in relevant context, concentrating more of their thinking on modeling problems and interpreting solutions while employing computers heavily for computationally-intensive tasks. This approach not only equips them as quantitative thinkers but also enhances their learning journey along the way.”
A foundational component of the program is a rigorous, computation-driven mathematics curriculum emphasizing real-world modeling and context-driven learning, reinforcing UATX’s commitment to transforming STEM education.
“UATX is the first university bold enough to take on fundamentally fixing math education,” says Conrad Wolfram, European cofounder and CEO of Wolfram Research and founder of computerbasedmath.org. “Deep mathematical or computational thinking is key to the arsenal of capabilities needed by transformative thinkers, problem-solvers and leaders–and everyone–as we power into the AI age. The Wolfram-UATX partnership marries together the vision, the technology, and education environment to set the new STEM standards that are both critical and deliverable.”
