University Of Missouri's Student Body Increased By Over 1,300 This Year

University of Missouri sets another record in the total number of its enrollees this year. The university welcomed a total of 33,318 students on its first day of classes, including freshmen and minority students.

This year, University of Missouri's student body welcomed over 1,300 new student enrollees that include freshmen and minority students. This made a new total record of 33,318 students that attended the first day of classes.

University of Missouri's officials are pleased that as they continue to provide opportunities to its students, they also attract students from different states with their variety of programs. Even though the number of high school students in the state has decreased, a good number of out-of-state enrollees have started to come in Missouri.

The total number of minority students enrolled this year has increased to 4,480 students from 3,951 students in 2010. This is a total increase of 13.4% or 529 students. The increase is mainly made up of 205 additional African-American students and 100 Hispanic students this year.

This year, the mean ACT score of the university recorded the highest in MU's history with a score of 25.7. ACT measures the quality of freshmen students of the university wherein the average ACT score of the institution remains the same at 21.6.

University of Missouri officials are pleased to see that enrollment in the university continues to grow as well as the quality of students that have enrolled. And one of the university's primary endeavor is to ready their student's through experience, giving them research opportunities, a chance to study abroad and encouraging them to be more involved with their community programs. The university's faculties and staff are committed in guiding the students that will prepare them with the different challenges of our fast changing global economy.

In addition to all this good news, University of Missouri has also increased its retention rate or the number of returning sophomores each year. From 84.5% in 2010 to 85.1% this year, a total increase of .6% which is one of the highest retention rates in the university's history.
