Benefit Mobile™ App Launch Brings Everyday Impact to Nonprofits, Schools for Next Generation Fundraising
Barcode and Instant Delivery Technology Allows Anyone to Support a Favorite Nonprofit, School Through Everyday Shopping
CHICAGO, September 27, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Benefit MobileTM today formally introduces the Benefit app built on mobile barcode and instant delivery technology that makes supporting the causes people care about most easier than ever before. Now anyone can support schools and nonprofit organizations through everyday purchases generating up to 20 percent of the receipt from retailers large and small. Among the more than 160 participating brick-and-mortar and online brands nationwide include Target, Whole Foods, Home Depot, Starbucks, Zappos, American Airlines and Amazon.
“The Benefit app allows people to pay with a purpose, achieving extraordinary fundraising with everyday effort,” says DJ Asad, CEO of Benefit Mobile. “Any non-profit organization or retailer can apply for participation. And with the giving built into the in-store or online experience, supporting an organization is immediate and rewarding.
“A couple who owns a contracting company in Indiana has made 500 purchases totaling $50,000 at Lowes,” Asad adds. “They have raised nearly $5,000 in support of their church’s summer camp.”
Launched as a beta in 2015, to date the Benefit app has helped organizations raise more than $1 million.
Once a credit/debit card or checking account is set, the user selects a cause to support, and then uses the app to shop in-store or online at participating retailers. The user instantly gets a barcode that can be scanned for immediate redemption or a code for online purchases. With every Benefit transaction, a donation of up to 20 percent is recorded. Benefit pays out to the organization each month.
Although no other platform’s transaction speed is faster, immediacy isn’t the only differentiator of the Benefit app.
- It is a 100 percent digital barcode and code delivery technology with greater security than traditional payments
- Users can view contributions in real time
- Benefit is a hyper-local support tool as any school/non-profit or retailer can apply for participation
- Beneficiaries can track every participant and their contributions to the cause
- There are no websites to access or limited virtual stores to visit
“This next generation of fundraising is frictionless for schools and organizations,” Asad says. “Not a dime is spent outside of the typical everyday shopping spend. It turns everyday consumers into loyal donors, and there is no cost to the school or non-profit.”
