The city of Saida will play host to "Urban Development Festivals: Ramadan Nights 2010" organized by Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Developmentin four main Lebanese cities: Beirut, Tripoli, Al Mina and Saida

The city of Saida will play host to "Urban Development Festivals: Ramadan Nights 2010" organized by Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Human Development, in cooperation with the Culture and Tourism ministries; municipalities of Beirut, Tripoli, Al Mina and Saida; civil society organizations; and sponsorship by leading Lebanese, Arab, Islamic and international banks and companies, in celebration of the onset of fasting season.

The "Urban Development Festivals: Ramadan Nights 2010" in Saida is part of a series of four city-based fiestas designed to highlight and showcase the uniqueness of major Lebanese cities, whilst highlighting the role of the cultural events in fostering an environment conductive to national unity, social cohesion and partnership amongst various stakeholders; thus, rendering the festivals a vehicle for economic growth and social change.

The Urban Development Festivals fall under Hariri Foundation's Urban Development Program that aims at aggregating, reconciling and creating synergies amongst various initiatives aimed at city planning, social change and sustainable human development, within the framework of partnership between the public sector, the private sector and the civil society.

Unveiling its inaugural event from August 19, 2010, the Saida festivals will take place in Khan Ifranj, one of Saida's many majestic edifices dating back to the 1600s and located just adjacent to the picturesque old vaulted souk of Saida.; stretching from August 19 to September 4. The scheduled shows will include first-class performances by artists of the like Ahmad Kaabour's tribute to Omar Ze'eni (August 19); Fouad Zabadi from Morocco (August 20); Tania Kassis, Oriental Colors (August 27); and Abdelkarim Al Chaar (September 4).
