Use as Many of Employees' Skills as Possible to Increase Business Success Says Brandon Frere

Skilled Success

Many employees have useful skills aside from the job skills necessary for their position. Managers who are willing to meet with them, discover their hidden skills and encourage them to use those skills may find that the strength of business increases, as does employee happiness, according to Brandon Frere, successful entrepreneur and CEO of Frere Enterprises.

“Making sure employees are skilled at their job is important, but if your company isn’t trying to use every skill that they have available, they may be missing an opportunity,” says Brandon Frere. “Figuring out the skill an employee wants to use, or might use, then giving them an opportunity to use it is an investment in the future of your company.”

While employees often have training and experience to match their job title, many also have unrelated experiences that may be useful for other new projects and roles. The intersection of art and technology in the modern world means that some employees may routinely make YouTube videos, video games or blog posts. From these hobbies, employees may have learned some ability to code, make art or write. If asked, employees may be able to use these talents to help with analytics, search-engine optimization, website design or marketing content creation for the company.

Employees may not mention these abilities because of self-esteem issues regarding their skills. Many have only used their skills for specific hobby purposes and may not believe they are good enough to use their skills in a company setting. In order to encourage them to give their skill use a try, encourage them to self-assess or get them in contact with other departments in order to encourage the development of those skills or conceive of new uses for these skills. By creating this connection, it may be possible to bring out the employees’ full working potential.

“It is important that every employee does their job the best that they can, but limiting their skill development in other areas can be a mistake in the long run,” says Brandon Frere. “Allowing your employees to invest in their desired skills is the same as investing in the future of your company.”

About Frere Enterprises
Brandon Frere is an entrepreneur and businessman who lives in Sonoma County, California. He has designed and created multiple companies to meet the ever-demanding needs of businesses and consumers alike. His company website, www.FrereEnterprises.com, is used as a means to communicate many of the lessons, fundamentals and information he has learned throughout his extensive business and personal endeavors, most recently in advocating on behalf of student loan borrowers nationwide.

As experienced during his own student loan repayment, Mr. Frere found out how difficult it can be to work with federally contracted student loan servicers and the repayment programs designed to help borrowers. Through those efforts, he gained an insider’s look into the repayment process and the motivations behind the inflating student loan debt bubble. His knowledge of the confusing landscape of student loan repayment became a vital theme in his future endeavors, and he now uses those experiences to help guide others through the daunting process of applying for available federal repayment and loan forgiveness programs.
