UviCube Introduces UV Light Disinfecting System With Launch of Kickstarter Campaign

UviCube protects babies from harmful bacteria with the power of UV light by eliminating 99.9% of germs on bottles, pacifiers, mobile phones and electronics

UviCube, a new device that uses ultraviolet (UV) light to keep your baby safe from germs, announces the launch of its 45-day Kickstarter campaign, officially going live on February 9, 2015.  UviCube dries, disinfects, and stores baby bottles, pacifiers, or cups in a safe, clean enclosure until they are needed.  Because it uses UV light, UviCube can safely sanitize mobile phones, electronics, toys and other household items that cannot be exposed to moisture or heat. UviCube is the first product of its kind in the United States.

UviCube houses a highly reflective stainless steel inner chamber that allows UV light to be reflected in all directions, effectively killing 99.9% of exposed germs with the touch of a button. UviCube does not use boiling water or hot steam, protecting users from the risk of burns, cleanup, and waste. UviCube can also dry and store items, so no additional counter space is required until those items are needed.  Simply wash and shake off excess water before inserting items into UviCube, select the DRY+UV cycle and press START.

Objects that cannot be exposed to moisture or heat, such as mobile phones, certain toys, and electronics, can also be sanitized just as easily and safely.  Power down electronics, insert them into UviCube, select the UV cycle and press START.  This way, users can quickly get back to spending time with their child.

Founder Autumn Colayco became highly conscious about protecting against germs after her first child spent the first two weeks of her life in the NICU for an infection. After searching for devices and gadgets to protect her child from germs, she came across UV products while living in Asia that disinfected bottles and other baby items.  Autumn decided to develop a high quality product specifically for the U.S. market that was familiar to use and understand, validated by a reputable, nationally recognized laboratory in the U.S. and met all U.S. federal, state and local safety and compliance standards for UV germicidal devices.

“Because it’s such a new and unique product, we were careful to design UviCube to be a great conversation piece, but not look out of place in any kitchen or nursery,” says Autumn. “We wanted to create something that would look good in any American household.  UviCube is the easiest way to disinfect those things my baby loves, allowing me to spend that saved time with my family. We all face challenges as parents in deciding how best to protect our children, and I hope UviCube can help give parents the convenience and peace of mind when it comes to keeping their baby safe from germs.”

UviCube showcased its first prototype at the 2013 ABC Kids Expo’s Invention Connection and the following year at the 2104 ABC Kids Expo and received a wide range of helpful and positive feedback, which has been incorporated into shaping the final design.

UviCube, is being offered exclusively to the Kickstarter community because the founders believe that the community supports new concepts and ideas, and the funds raised will help pay for the final tooling and upfront costs to bring the first inventory to the United States.

The Kickstarter campaign officially launches on February 9, 2015, and will run through March 22, 2015.  The first 100 backers will have the opportunity to be the first to own a UviCube for a pledge of $199, a savings of $100. The overall launch of UviCube will continue alongside the Kickstarter campaign, with the sourcing of components for production beginning in January 2015. Quality control of the first inventory should be completed in spring and founders expect to fill pledged UviCube orders by June 2015.

About UviCube

Keeping Your Baby Safe From Germs

UviCube (Kokirri, LLC) was started in 2012.  UviCube is the easiest way to keep your baby safe from germs. UviCube is about the size of a small microwave with the capacity to hold 4-6 bottles and their accessories, depending on their size.  An iPad Mini fits perfectly on the tray, and has plenty of room to hold a mobile phone, a remote control, a watch or other small personal items.   When items are placed inside the UviCube, ultraviolet (UV) light eliminates 99.9% of harmful bacteria with the press of a button.    Baby bottles, pacifiers and cups can be dried, disinfected and stored in a safe, clean enclosure until they are needed.  Because UviCube uses UV light, you can safely sanitize mobile phones, electronics, toys and other items that cannot be exposed to moisture or heat.   Two years were spent testing and identifying high quality materials, making sure the product meets U.S. safety standards and properly complying with federal, state and local regulatory requirements.  Results in eliminating 99.9% of harmful bacteria have also been validated by a nationally recognized testing laboratory.  UviCube is based in Irvine, CA and has patents pending.
