V2W cost changes & the HST
As with businesses across the province, Voice to Word will need to increase its costs by 8% to meet this new reality - in this case, by raising course costs.
Online, May 18, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Toronto, ON | May 18, 2010 - Although Voice to Word's course costs will increase in July following new Ontario tax legislation, the company will mitigate the costs for non-corporate course-takers by covering the sales tax portion.
On July 1 the Ontario government will introduce Harmonized Sales Tax (HST) legislation on goods and services.
The new law combines the 5% Goods and Services tax (GST) with the 8% Provincial Sales tax (PST) to create a 13% HST.
As with businesses across the province, Voice to Word will need to increase its costs by 8% to meet this new reality - in this case, by raising course costs.
Fortunately, for students, Voice to Word will absorb the 8% sales tax for non-corporate clients from July to December 2010.
"The harmonized sales tax gives businesses like ours little choice but to adjust our cost structure accordingly," said Heather Chetwynd, the director of Voice to Word. "Covering the eight percent difference, we're not only helping our valued clients during this transition time, but we're also creating an ideal time during which to study."
Individuals and companies who want to find out about Voice to Word's course program for 2010 can contact Heather Chetwynd at her Toronto office.
