Valensi Rose, PLC attorney, Bruce D. Sires will be a speaker at the April 20th Beverly Hills Bar Association lunch on child actors and the law.
Online, April 11, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Valensi Rose, PLC attorney Bruce D. Sires will be a featured speaker at an upcoming Beverly Hills Bar Association lunch seminar entitled "Child Actors - What's All The Fuss?: A Look at Current Laws and Regulations" on Wednesday, April 20, 2011.
The seminar will review and discuss the law governing the unique aspects of employing minors in the entertainment industry. It will address DLSE regulations, SAG regulations, the Court Ratification Process and Coogan Trust Accounts, as well as the ethical obligations when the interests of child and parent differ and when children are asked to perform in shows of a mature subject nature.
Mr. Sires, who specializes in Coogan Trust issues, will be speaking on the proper handling of a minor's earnings under the Coogan Act, in particular the 15% employers are required to deposit into a Coogan Trust Account for the benefit of the minor after age 18.
Other speakers include: Paul Petersen, founder of the nonprofit A Minor Consideration and the leading advocate for the rights of child actors; Tony Hanna, who worked for the Screen Actors Guild before entering private practice specializing in entertainment union issues; and David Albert Pierce who provides outside counsel for child actor labor matters for Lionsgate Film & Television and Nu Image Entertainment.
Mr. Sires has degrees in general law and in taxation law and has been practicing for more than 35 years. He specializes in the area of Tax and Wealth Planning and works extensively with high net-worth individuals and families. His experience and background qualified him to be named a "Super Lawyer" among Southern California lawyers for 2004 - 2006 and 2009 - 2011.
