Vectra Networks Delivers Industry's First Solution to Fully Protect Distributed Enterprise Blind Spots from Persistent Cyber Attacks

Remote Sites and Internal Network Segments Previously Lacking Security Coverage Now Have Comprehensive Threat Analysis and Real-Time Indicators of Attack with New Vectra S-series Sensor

Vectra Networks, the leader in real-time detection of cyber attacks in-progress, today introduced the S-series sensor – the industry’s first threat detection platform that extends automated real-time cybersecurity into all corners of an organization, including previous blind spots such as remote sites and internal network segments. In addition to the added security visibility of the S-series sensor, Vectra introduced Detection Triage functionality, enabling security teams to identify and track risky behaviors that can enable or obscure network attacks.

Cybersecurity defenses typically look for attacks only at the organization’s Internet boundary and main sites. However, today’s breaches prove that remote sites are the weak links in an organization’s attack surface that attackers exploit to gain access, then spread laterally to internal network segments that contain key assets they steal or destroy. These areas often lack the visibility to detect the subtle signs of an attacker spying, spreading and stealing within the network.

According to Forrester Research, “Many security and risk pros are not even aware when the enterprise has already suffered a breach. This is commonly caused by underinvestment in network analysis and visibility (NAV) and endpoint visibility and control (EVC) tools that can detect abnormal patterns and user behavior in their networks and IT environment.” 1

“Vectra is the first to extend real-time cybersecurity to remote sites and internal segments to automate detection of all phases of an attack anywhere in an organization,” said Hitesh Sheth, Vectra CEO. “Combining sensors with our X-series platform allows our customers to automatically see indicators of a cyber attack anywhere in the network without incremental investment in system analyst resources.”

“We have experienced good results with Vectra in our corporate network and have begun deploying Vectra S-series sensors at power plants and field locations,” said a senior IT security administrator at a power generation and transmission company. “The sensor was really easy to set up and deploy. Right away, we got visibility into security events that we were not aware of previously.”

The new Vectra Detection Triage capability enables security teams to track high-risk behavior that may enable or obscure a cyber attack. For example, vulnerability scanners can obscure actual attacker reconnaissance, and some forms of remote desktop control can enable attackers to take manual control over a compromised host. The ability to customize and track detections of these behaviors using local context is critical to ensure that cyber attacks are not overlooked.

Availability and Price
The new Vectra S-series sensor and software license are both available today directly from Vectra Networks and authorized resellers. The Vectra S-series list price starts at $8,000.
