Online, February 1, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Velir, a full service Web development agency, was awarded by Sitecore, a leading provider of .NET Web Content Management System (CMS) software, with a North American Sitecore Site of the Year Award - Best Mobile Site for the Brookings Institution.
Selected from several customers, the Brookings Institution, a nonprofit public policy and research organization based in Washington, DC, is being recognized for brookings.edu, which is truly optimized for mobile and cross-channel publishing and engagement. Velir, an authorized Sitecore partner, is being recognized for engineering the Sitecore solution. During this project, Velir was challenged to support every major mobile platform via a comprehensive mobile optimized site and native applications.
"Using Sitecore, Brookings has reached their goals, building an easy-to-use and maintain mobile optimized site that extends the 'author once, publish everywhere' concept with one-click simplicity for everything from iPhone to Facebook to email," said Mark Gregor, president, Velir. "We could not have implemented the Brookings solution without such a spectacular, forward-thinking client like Brookings, and the significant strategic and design contributions from Threespot, Brooking's digital strategy and design partner."
"Velir has demonstrated excellence in creating an optimized site that combines a creative design with rich data sources and applications that educates and motivates key stakeholders," said Jason Crea, vice president client and partner engagement, Sitecore. "We were impressed with the overall user experience of the mobile site, and we want to recognize Velir on this achievement."
Sitecore's Site of the Year contest recognizes organizations that have leveraged Sitecore's technology to develop the most outstanding websites. Nominations are judged on creativity, integration with rich data sources and applications, the ability to engage, educate and motivate an action, and the overall user experience the site is able to deliver to its visitors. The Sitecore Site of the Year contest is divided into four regions, International, Denmark, UK, and North America.
