Vendetta Filmworks Brings the New Gospel Musical "Heaven Ain't Hard" to Find the Screen!
Produced by Marie Hegwood and executive produced by John Ewing III, a star-studded team of actors and singers grace the screen in "Heaven Ain't Hard to Find."
Online, April 7, 2011 (Newswire.com) - Executive Producer, John Ewing III, has teamed with the critically-acclaimed director, Neema Barnette (Civil Brand, My Super Sweet 16: The Movie, The Cosby Show), along with notable actors Clifton Powell (Street Kings: Motor City ) and Kym Whitley(Curb Your Enthusiasm, Reno 911) to bring audiences the outrageous new gospel musical, Heaven Ain't Hard to Find.
Marie Hegwood, the producer who brought the project to Vendetta Filmworks, is pleased with the outcome. "It was important for me to find a great script with talented writers who could go from stage to screen and a great director with television experience who could bring the project together on time and on budget. Written by the phenomenal gospel stage play team of "The Three Wise Men" (Timothy Javon Johnson, John Trusty, Norris Bruse), who penned the successful stage play, Whatever She Wants, this upbeat musical weaves a story of "what-ifs." What if the church you loved is marked for demolition and the only people who could help save it have gone on to glory? For Tiffany Scott (Tasha Taylor), the lone member of the First Greater Saint New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church, this is certainly the case.
First Greater Saint New Mount Pilgrim Baptist Church is not your usual place of worship. It is over 100 years old and inhabited by three very vocal and mischievous spirits: Sister Hattie May (Kym Whitley), Sister Cora (Jozella Reed) and Sister Viola (Samantha McSwain-Stith), all of which refuse to leave until a new pastor can be found to revitalize the church. The sisters believe their prayers may be finally answered when in walks convicted felon Malcolm Anderson (Andre Pitre, Love in the Nick of Time) and their world as they once knew it, turns upside down. When real estate mogul, Big Bill Herod (Clifton Powell), begins demolition, he also hatches a plan that will ruin that will hopes and prayers of all those involved.
Shot on location, Heaven Ain't Hard to Find features the vocals of actress Tasha Taylor (Tiffany Scott), daughter of R & B legend, Johnnie Taylor; along with Andre Pitre, Jozella Reed (Ain't Misbehavin') and Samantha McSwain-Stith(Tony Award Nominee). The soundtrack features a variety of uplifting musical compositions, with the theme song composed by the NAACP award winning musical director, Ron Hasley(Your Arms Are Too Short to Box With God).
