Victory Junction Kicks Off Summer Camp With A Little Help From Blue-Emu
Blue-Emu donates funds to Victory Junction summer camp and the Kyle Petty Charity Ride in an effort to ensure more children suffering from serious medical conditions & serious illnesses can take advantage of the camp's facilities.
Online, May 30, 2012 (Newswire.com) - When any child is suffering from chronic medical conditions or serious illnesses, it pulls on the heart strings. So quickly a child's life can be consumed with doctors, nurses, hospitals, knowledge of concerns they shouldn't have to worry about at such a young age. Just for that, there's Victory Junction a summer camp program serving children age six to 16 with chronic or serious medical conditions. Their aim is to provide children with relaxing, fun and empowering experiences in a medically safe environment.
Blue-Emu inventor Richard Guy couldn't wait to get on board and help. "As soon as I learned about the camp and what they're doing, I wanted to get Blue-Emu involved. Victory Junction provides these kids and their family with an amazing experience and if there's anything we can do to help them do that, we're on board."
It certainly isn't easy: the cost for each camper is about $2,500, but because of donations from individuals and companies, Victory Junction provides each camper the experience at no cost to the families.
"I'm excited to say this year, Blue-Emu is donating $40,000 to Victory Junction and we're also helped sponsor the Kyle Petty Charity Ride, in the hope that more kids will be able to take advantage of all they have to offer," Guy explained.
Founded by Kyle and Pattie Petty in honor of their son Adam, the camp is located in Randleman, NC, with a second location opening soon in Kansas City, KS. Since opening in 2004, the camp has welcomed over 14,000 children with serious illnesses such as, but not limited to, Autism, Cancer, Craniofacial Anomalies, Diabetes, Hemophilia, Sickle Cell and Spina Bifida. The summer 2012 season is divided into nine sessions, grouping kids together with similar conditions. The first group starts their experience at the NASCAR themed camp June 10th.
"We are thrilled to have Blue Emu and Richard on board as donors at Victory Junction and the Kyle Petty Charity Ride," Kyle Petty explained. "I have used some of their products and they work great. Now they are helping with the great work that we do at Camp, allowing kids to enjoy the experiences that many of us take for granted. Since Victory Junction never charges the families who come to Camp, we are always very grateful for the people and their organizations who step up and make this Camp possible."
