Vidatak and Acuity Medical Announce Licensing Agreement With NewYork-Presbyterian
Vidatak and Acuity Medical Launch the First Evidence-Based Spiritual Care Communication Board for Non-Verbal, Mechanically Ventilated Patients
Ann Arbor, Michigan, April 26, 2017 (Newswire.com) - Vidatak, LLC (Ann Arbor, MI) and Acuity Medical, Inc. (Annapolis, MD) today announced a licensing agreement with NewYork-Presbyterian / Columbia University Medical Center's Venture arm to release the first and only evidence-based Spiritual Care Communication Board. The innovative product was developed by NewYork-Presbyterian Chaplain Joel Berning, and used for reducing stress and anxiety in non-verbal, mechanically ventilated patients.
“We are pleased to announce the launch of the Vidatak Spiritual Care Communication Board,” stated Vidatak CEO Lance Patak, M.D., MBA. “We are impressed by the work of Chaplain Berning and the research team at NewYork-Presbyterian. They’ve done a tremendous job and we are very honored to have the opportunity to partner with them. The Spiritual Care Board brings a higher standard to humanistic care for an extremely vulnerable patient population.”
It is obvious that much effort went into its design, as the inclusiveness is remarkable. Addressing Spiritual Pain along with the graphics that indicate one's emotional needs, to the inter-faith interventions request board are like nothing I have ever seen.
Rev. Raymond G. Coffman, Manager of Pastoral Care at WellStar Cobb Hospital
“The Vidatak Spiritual Care Communication Board will allow chaplains, patients, family members, and caregivers throughout the continuum of care access to an inexpensive and clinically proven patient-provider communication tool to reduce stress and anxiety in critical care situations,” stated Acuity Medical President Mark Tomchik. “Acuity Medical is excited to work with Vidatak and NewYork-Presbyterian. Our family of Vidatak EZ Communication Boards and IT solutions continue to lead the market in improving outcomes and reducing costs associated with conventional modalities for patient-provider communications.”
Rev. Raymond G. Coffman, Manager of Pastoral Care at WellStar Cobb Hospital in Austell, Georgia, commented: “As a longtime Chaplain and Manager of Pastoral Care, I was delighted to find a Spiritual Care Communication Board that could be used with non-vocal patients. It is obvious that much effort went into its design, as the inclusiveness is remarkable. Addressing Spiritual Pain along with the graphics that indicate one's emotional needs, to the inter-faith interventions request board are like nothing I have ever seen. Thank you VIDATAK / ACUITY MEDICAL for making this available for our Spiritual Care staff.”
