VisionIT Partners With Samsung to Incorporate Samsung Knox for CareTrail, a Patient Care Clinical Collaboration Application
Detroit, Michigan, February 23, 2017 (Newswire.com) - VisionIT recently announced the availability of CareTrail, a secure clinical communication and collaboration application that combines messaging, on-call scheduling, and task management to clinicians in support of improving collaborative patient care. VisionIT is now adding the option of an additional layer of security to CareTrail with multi-government agency certified Samsung Knox security platform.
Intended for use in hospitals, health systems, clinician groups, homecare agencies, and professional medical groups, CareTrail interfaces with major Electronic Health Record (EHR) applications and is available on the web or through a mobile application. Samsung Knox provides an additional security layer to healthcare professionals and government health systems concerned about HIPAA compliance and securing patient information.
VisionIT is already bringing a highly secure mobile application to market. With the addition of Samsung Knox security, government and private healthcare providers will have one of the strongest security platforms available today when deployed on Samsung hardware. Samsung is working with VisionIT on joint go-to-market efforts around CareTrail, and we will be demonstrating the application together in the Samsung booth at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.

“VisionIT is already bringing a highly secure mobile application to market. With the addition of Samsung Knox security, government and private healthcare providers will have one of the strongest security platforms available today when deployed on Samsung hardware,” said Gregg Ostrowski, VP of Samsung Business Services. “Samsung is working with VisionIT on joint go-to-market efforts around CareTrail, and we will be demonstrating the application together in the Samsung booth at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.”
“At VisionIT, we are heavily focused on the privacy and security requirements in health care and developed CareTrail to meet and exceed the requirements of HIPAA,” added Paul Toenjes, senior vice president of VisionIT. “We are quite pleased with our partnership with Samsung and in our integration with Samsung Knox security. By leveraging Samsung Knox hardware level security, we are able to address the security requirements of the most stringent organizations.“
CareTrail will be featured at the Samsung government booth area February 27 through March 2 at the 2017 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona. VisionIT will demonstrate the application and key features, including the defense-grade Samsung Knox security elements.
In addition to secure messaging and collaboration capabilities, CareTrail offers workflow optimizations including:
· On-call scheduling that lets clinicians know which care team members are available at any given time.
· An external invitation feature that enables a clinician to securely invite another medical professional to join a patient’s care team.
· A designated place for clinicians to leave care instructions for each patient.
· Care team task management.
David Segura, CEO of VisionIT shared, “VisionIT is laser-focused in healthcare and bringing new technologies to market that are based on immediate needs of our healthcare customers. Building CareTrail and helping doctors, nurses, and other Care Team members leverage technology to collaborate and coordinate around a patient is just the first step in our strategy. By leveraging the latest technologies and devices with great partners like Samsung, we are well positioned to help the healthcare industry capitalize on what is possible with new technologies.”
CareTrail was developed in conjunction with the Detroit-based Henry Ford Health System. With their leadership and guidance in the overall product strategy and design, VisionIT created a collaboration offering addressing many advanced issues not available in competing solutions. VisionIT provided the technical and usability design guidance but the detailed scope, process ideas and designs came from practicing clinicians. Henry Ford explained in detail the impact of the CareTrail innovation and what it means to care teams in the formal announcement on February 15, 2017. Future releases will address the areas of population health, patient monitoring, and patient management.
CareTrail is a patient-centric secure mobile communication platform, designed by clinicians. More information on CareTrail can be found at www.caretrail.io and www.visionit.com.
