Vissanji Academy Celebrating Its Golden Jubilee Year.
Online, August 1, 2012 (Newswire.com) - Vissanji Academy recently began year-long celebrations to commemorate their Golden Jubilee. Nostalgia was at its best and emotions were running high as the evening was attended by yesteryear teachers and alumni.
The proceedings started with the customary diya lighting. Portraits of founders Mr. Pratapsinh Mathuradas Vissanji, Mrs. Pushpabai Pratapsinh Vissanji and founder Principal Ms. Maneck. E. Mody were unveiled by the trustees Mr. Hemant Vissanji and Mrs. Arati Vissanji.
The school is known for producing some of the best talent in various fields, to name a few, education, medicine, engineering, sports, advertising and even spirituality.
Key speaker for the evening was 1972 batch alumnus Ms. Sunanda Leelaram, widely acclaimed speaker on Vedanta, who is the daughter and protege of the internationally renowned philosopher Swami Parthasarathy. Sunandaji enriched the audience by her golden words and deep thoughts, explaining the relevance of education for success and a balanced life.
1980 batch alumnus, Ms. Zarine Virji, now a principal of a reputed school in Mumbai, sent waves of laughter across the audience with stories of her school days. She also shared how each of her teachers made an impact on her life, which has shaped the fine educationist in her.
For 50 years, Vissanji Academy has educated, moulded and enlightened young minds with the motto to 'love and learn'. As part of the celebrations, the school along with Nehru Science Centre will be holding a science exhibition to hone bright minds inclined towards science from November 30 to December 1, 2012 at the school premises. The next alumni meet is scheduled on the Founders' Day, December 22, 2012.
