ViVa© Actuators Operate the Intake and Exhaust Valves of an EVIC Gas Powered Camless Engine
Sarasota, FL, February 11, 2015 (Newswire.com) - The Viking AT ViVa© 3mm and new 12mm actuators are piezo electric devices designed as a solenoid replacement and can operate the intake and exhaust valves of a small internal combustion engine. Ideal applications would include aerospace, drones, large scale model airplanes, and the future for small aircraft.

Back in October 2014, David first successfully demonstrated a 3mm ViVa© dual actuator operating the intake valve of his 12cc EVIC Mk2 engine. The next step was to obtain a much larger actuator to see if it was up to the much more difficult challenge of operating the exhaust valve. To open the exhaust valve the actuator must overcome the high cylinder pressure at the end of the engine’s power stroke. The result is the Viking 12mm ViVa© actuator, which is meeting and exceeding these expectations.
“One of the really exciting things about this technology is how little electrical power is required to operate the valves. It is a fraction of that required by my previous solenoid system,” said Bowes.
