Players create their own armies (called loadouts), and engage in head to head matches online. All the characters are customizable, and can be equipped with their own set of powers and weapons based on their race and class, to suit whatever strategy the player is going for. There are also special commands to bring havoc to the battlefield, and research players can use to upgrade units during game! Void Rim is also a 'true' free to play game, as every game piece can be acquired using in game currency.

There are three unique factions in Void Rim that won't be seen anywhere else. The nanorobotic Dronos, the gladiator punk Helius Legionnaires, and finally the techno mystic Nethermonger.

Desert Owl Games is a small indie studio made up of only four people, and they are passionate about creating a really fun game. Their goal is want to grow and support community that is eager to take part in the game's evolution. Areas such as game balance, combos, upcoming features; these will all be fed by the community, and not just during the beta period.
