Vorpahl Fire and Safety Introduces Ergodyne 6000 and 6020 SHAX Portable Work Tents

My product of the spring vote goes to Ergodyne's, Tenacious Holdings, 6000 series of pop-up portable work shelters known simply as SHAX™. These utility tents are both versatile and durable providing protection from sun, wind and rain.

Chris Vorpahl, Business Development Specialist, for Vorpahl Fire and Safety located in Green Bay, Wisconsin, is an expert of personal protective equipment. Knowing what type of safety equipment should be supplied to workers to fit their specific job application.

When looking at new and innovative products for the upcoming construction and landscaping season, two things always comes to my mind, heat and hydration. Believe me, here in Green Bay we will be seeing our fare share of construction with the US 41 expansion happening right in front of our doors.
In the Midwest, we so quickly forget about how much the temperatures can rise when you are surround by nearly subzero temperatures for the majority of the year.

My product of the spring vote goes to Ergodyne's, Tenacious Holdings, 6000 series of pop-up portable work shelters known simply as SHAX™. These utility tents are both versatile and durable providing protection from sun, wind and rain. The tent measures 10 ft. by 10 ft. and is made of 300D polyester with both PU and UV coatings. A powder coated steel frame, double vented top, reflective accents, rounded corners, a wheeled bag for both transportation and storage, equipped with heavy duty steaks and ties as well as an optional side panel. Perfect for construction and trades, landscaping and grounds crews, utility crews, survey crews, oil and gas refining, emergency response and agriculture.

My reasoning for the liking of the new SHAX™ 6000 Series has to do with the California OSHA standards that may soon apply to many more if not all states in the near future. The definition states in the California Code of Regulations, Title 8, 3395(d) Access to Shade: Employees must have access to an area with shade that is either open to the air or provided with ventilation or cooling for a period of no less than five minutes. "Shade" means blockage of direct sunlight, canopies, umbrellas, and other temporary structures or devices may be used to provide shade. One indicator that blockage is sufficient when objects do not cast a shadow in the area of blocked sunlight.

The CAL OSHA regulation also states of proper training of all employees and supervisors about heat illness prevention, provide enough fresh water so that each employee can drink at least 1 quart per hour, and encourage them to do so; and develop and implement written procedures for complying with
the CAL/OSHA Heat Illness Prevention Standard.
