Vote for UK Holidays Triggers 6 Million Pound Investment by Parks Group
Park Holidays UK has announced a 6 million pound investment programme for 2014 which will see new features and facilities introduced at all of its parks in south and west England.
Online, May 7, 2014 (Newswire.com) - Park Holidays UK say that its aim is to make the holiday experiences of guests even more appealing with this investment, and to ensure that its parks maintain quality standards of the highest order.
Encouraging its investment decision, said director Tony Clish, was a start to the year which saw the highest-ever volume of holiday sales in its 25-year history - despite the turbulent weather.
Demand was slightly above average in stormy January and February, said Mr Clish, and was then followed by an even bigger bookings burst during the much milder March.
The company's 23 seaside parks in Devon and south and east England largely escaped any serious impact from the storms, he said, and all are now fully open.
Park Holiday UK's schedule of work for its 6 million pound investment was drawn up with the assistance of feedback from its many holiday homes owners.
In a survey at the start of this year, it invited them to draw up a "wish-list" of what would improve even further the quality of their holiday lifestyles.
Partly as a result of the consultation, parks will see enhanced gym and fitness facilities, professional landscaping, re-designed restaurants and bars, and improved roads and lighting.
"Owners of holiday homes, who often spend many weeks of the year on our parks, are ideally placed to tell us what they consider would improve their experience," said Mr Clish.
"Their suggestions also obviously benefit the tens of thousands who come each year for short breaks and holidays, and work has already started on many of their recommendations.
"We pushed the button on this programme after a fantastic start to the year in terms of advance bookings, even though some in the tourism industry feared the effects of the bad weather.
"I think they might have underestimated the resilience of British holidaymakers, and the predictions of weather experts that we could be in for a gorgeous summer like last year's," added Mr Clish.
Other investments will include the proposed redevelopment of the group's popular Riviera Holiday Park in Brixham.
Subject to planning consent, the project will include the introduction of 75 extra holiday lodges and a new management building which will include a cafй/bar and gym facilities.
The proposals also include measures to protect and enhance the site's ecological value, including the strengthening of existing hedgerows as wildlife habitats, and the construction of a bat barn.
Details of the latest offers, plus summer holiday discounts, can be found on the Park Holidays website.
