Sponsored by the New York County Lawyer's Association and New York chapter of the Federal Bar Association, the panel will be at the US Courthouse at 500 Pearl Street in room 850.

The focus of the program will be on copyright and trademark protection for fashion brands. It seeks to provide a strong foundation and discussion of current and proposed intellectual property protection for designs, for in-house counsel as well as attorneys representing small, individual designers.

The program will be divided into five segments, each exploring an essential component of that area of the law:

1)Available Protection under Existing Laws;
2)Particular IP Challenges in the Apparel & Fashion Industries;
3)Comparative IP Protection law in the Apparel Industry: United States & Europe;
4)Strategies for Overcoming Shortfalls in Protection Under Existing US Laws;
5)Proposed U.S. Legislation for IP Protection of Apparel & Fashion

Panelists include Frances Hadfield of Grunfeld Desiderio; Barbara Kolsun, the General In-House Counsel of Stuart Weitzman, LLC; Kandis Koustenis, Esq. of Francis Company; and Heather McDonald of Baker & Hostetler LLP.

Attendees must pre-register for the panel. There will be no registration available at the door. Registration information and forms are available on the CLE's page on the NYCLA website located here: http://www.nycla.org/index.cfm?section=CLE&page=CLE_Detail&itemID=2622&dateID=20120207
