Wake Up And Lives Actors' Studio Honors The Late Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones, Phenomenal Woman

Online, September 3, 2010 (Newswire.com) - The Wake Up and Lives Actors' Studio announces its plans to pay tribute to the late Congresswoman Stephanie Tubbs Jones in a performance at The Stephanie Tubbs Jones Community Center Building, located at 3450 Lee Road in Shaker Heights, on the grounds of the Shaker Heights Library, on October 3, 2010 from 3:00 until 4:30 p.m.

This performance is part of its series entitled "Play Acts to Go," which emphasizes taking the arts to the community. Entitled "A Phenomenal Day of Women (and a Few Guys, Too!): A Playwright's Tribute to Strong Women," this show will feature a variety of artistic works such as poetry (a favorite of the late Congresswoman's), sketches, staged readings, scenes, solo performance pieces and short one-act plays. Notably, The Wake Up and Lives Actors' Studio will perform multiple works written by beloved local playwright Robert "Ruby" Fox in acknowledgment of his "phenomenal" contributions to the art of play writing.

The October 3rd event will mark the third performance by The Wake Up and Lives Actors' Studio at the community center. Sue Johnson, Executive Director, views these live performances as the studio's "gift to the community." Surrounded by a vibrant theatre community, Shaker Heights itself does not possess a live theatre venue. Ms. Johnson sees one part of its mission as "keeping the arts alive in Shaker Heights." Admission to the performance is free and open to the public.

This unique performance promises to delight the audience with an original tribute poem honoring the Congresswoman, along with other original works by passionate, up-and-coming playwrights in Northeast Ohio. The community is invited to come out and join in this celebration of phenomenal persons who have left an indelible mark on the hearts and lives of this community.
