Waste Management Promotes Mike Schwartz To Green Squad Business Development Manager

Online, March 30, 2010 (Newswire.com) - Waste Management (WM) recently appointed Mike Schwartz as the western group business development manager for WM Green Squad. Promoted from his former position as senior eco-consultant for WM Green Squad, Schwartz will manage sales activities in the western United States.

WM Green Squad was launched to meet the growing demand for hands-on sustainability support such as advanced recycling programs, green building projects and enterprise sustainability strategies. WM Green Squad assists public and private organizations to implement these innovative eco-solutions.

In his previous position as a senior eco-consultant for WM Green Squad, Schwartz focused on waste minimization and recycling projects in Southern California. He also concentrated heavily on sales and marketing for WM Green Squad in the Southwest.

Schwartz has also worked with the California Climate Action Registry and the Chicago Climate Exchange as a lead verifier of greenhouse gas emissions. Currently, Schwartz is a member of the San Diego Regional Sustainability Partnership and the U.S. Green Building Council's San Diego chapter.

Schwartz is a Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) accredited professional and holds a building operator certification from the Northwest Energy Efficiency Council. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in sociology with an emphasis in sustainable development and Bachelor of Science in psychology from the University of Oregon.
