WCS Supports the Battle Against Breast Cancer

WCS Director of Operations Explains How to Join the Fight

According to Chris, October may be National Breast Cancer Awareness month, but there are plenty of ways to fight the disease throughout the year. “More than 230,000 people are afflicted with breast cancer in our country each year,” he continued. “This is obviously far too many, which is why everyone at WCS helps educate the public about all the different ways to help. It’s much more than donating money and participating in walk-a-thons.”

The company Director cited several businesses that donate portions of proceeds to breast cancer research and treatment. Cosmetic brand Clinique does so while also rewarding customers with items such as a key charm and a pink pouch. Purchases of some jewelry items from Stella & Dot result in donations to Women’s Cancer Research, and restaurants like Chomp Eatery & Juice Salon in Santa Monica offer similar deals.

“Anyone who has been in some way affected by breast cancer can make a huge impact simply by sharing their story,” indicated Chris. “It’s an incredibly brave thing to do, and there are a lot of platforms for doing so. A lot of people prefer to discuss their experiences online, through pictures, blogs, and social media posts. These efforts achieve the biggest reach when hashtagged appropriately. Stories of hope and even loss inspire others to join the fight.”
